Best of 2016

At the risk of sounding cliché, I can’t believe how fast this year’s gone by. Maybe it's a sign that I'm getting older, but it seems like only yesterday I was sifting through my dishes of 2015 in search of my favorites. Well, wherever the time went, we're at the end of another year and that means, I have to pick my favorites from well over 100 dishes I created this year.

But first, just a quick recap of 2016. For some reason I guess I was really digging Asian food this year as 7 of the top 10 were from the region. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that I spent a lot of time in Asia this year, with trips to Bhutan, Thailand and the Philippines, not to mention my time traveling around Japan from Kyoto to Nagano to Miyazaki and Fukuoka. 2016 also marked a year with lots TV with guest appearances on 6 shows, including: Delicious Japan, Biz Buzz and Chelsea, and a gig hosting a 4 part series called Bento Expo.

Honestly, I'm not sure why we make such a big deal of a 1 digit change in year as it's just another mid-winter day, but we humans seem to have an affinity for dividing our lives into digestible blocks of time. So to all my neighbors on this planet, have a wonderful, safe New Years and may 2017 bring you good health, good food, and good luck!
