Some of you may remember that I was down in LA in late March. I can finally tell you what I was doing down there as the TV episode I was shooting will air in less than a month. I was flown out there to shoot an episode of Grill It With Bobby Flay for the Food Network.
My tweets at the time were cryptic because I was sworn to secrecy, but it was awesome in a surreal kind of way and and experience I really wanted to share with you guys. That’s why I wrote a bunch of musings, in 140 characters or less, from the set of Grill It. Now that the cat is out of the bag, I can share the “tweets” with you:-) Consider it a preview of my episode that airs at 10:30am on August 1st, 2010. Set your DVR’s and enjoy the behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like shooting a TV episode.
Sunday March 28th
7:03am Just rolled out of bed, my ride to the show will be here in less than an hour.
8:12am Pulling up to a wooded enclave in Beverly Hills, looks like we’re shooting in someone’s home.
8:56am Just stepped out onto the “set” and there’s a swimming pool with a view over LA, flowers an pollen everywhere… uh oh
9:21am Just shot intro, allergies are starting to kick in, time for some Benedryl
9:39am Bobby is totally down to earth, and quite the comedian
10:15am Benedryl is starting to kick in, time for some RedBull
10:28am I’m a lot less nervous than I thought I’d be. This further proves my theory that cooking is therapeutic.
10:46am Just asked for lip balm and someone appeared to put it on me, I could get used to this…
11:42am Everyone keeps telling me I’m doing good and that my food looks great, my head might float away if I keep getting these compliments.
11:51am Impressive how organized everyone is given how many people are running about.
12:17pm First RedBull is wearing off, time to have another
1:09pm That second RedBull was a bad idea, my hands are starting to shake, but no matter, I’m DONE!
2:08pm In a towncar headed to LAX, my brain feels about 1000lbs lighter
3:05pm At the airport having an $8 Sam Adams, life is good.
