This is sooooooooo sweet, Marc & L! I realize this was posted long ago- I was just looking for an advice from your site on real good sesame oil and ran into this cute post. I melted like butter reading this.

I do have an American friend who misses that "dried seasoned squid with beer & baseball" combo VERY MUCH from his experience with his ex-girlfriend and her Korean dad at Dodger Stadium.

Just stopped by your site after browsing Foodgawker and have to agree about food bridging cultures. A lot of Japanese/Korean animosity can be saved through blending food... unless Ichiro Suzuki comes along and says Korea smells like garlic =/

Anyhow, quip aside, love your recipes, will definitely try them out here in Vienna!

I love dried quid, I never thought of grilling it though. Definitely have to try that, plus I have had that dipping sauce and it is really good.

Yep, it's dried squid. It makes it a little crisp and gives it a nice smoky flavour.
