Maybe my pears were on the large side -- anyway, I ended up poaching them in 16 oz of pom juice, round side down but in a stainless saute pan rather than a pot. After their 20 minute sauna, I turned them cut side down and they turned out just great!!!

Thanks Lauren, hope it goes well. Let us know how it turns out.

Mark, welcome to the cold:-)

Peter, thanks! The color holds up surprisingly well to the cooking.

Thanks HoneyB and Abby!

Peter, I did have a great time I'll be posting some pics of some of the stuff I ate soon.

Syrie, thanks, stay tuned for trip photos:-)

Emily, have you heard of Acai or CamuCamu? They're supposed to have even more anti-oxidents than blueberries.

Thanks Hugging the Coast, Jessie and Lorraine!

Diva, lol I think that one may have been after my time?

Peko P, can you guys get pomegranate juice there? If not, you can try it sourcing some pomegranate molasses and just add water.

Michael, thanks, I've never been much of a fan of wine poaching pears, this is a much lighter alternative.

Thanks Leonor!

Rachelle, hope it turns out well!
