It's that time again for the next Dinner and a Movie, and for June I've chosen Monsoon Wedding. With monsoon season in full swing in June, it seemed a fitting choice for the month.

I know my last movie was wedding themed, but I've had this particular movie in mind since I started this event because it has some truly drool-worthy cinematography. It's a vibrant movie about the celebrations in life and the flashpoints that occur where old values clash with modern life. Helmed by Mira Nair who's also directed films like Mississippi Masala and the film adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's The Namesake, Monsoon Wedding is a beautiful montage of life in New Delhi through Nair's eyes.

For those new to the blog, Dinner and a Move is a food event I co-host each month with Susan from Sticky, Gooey, Creamy Chewy. Unlike other events, there are no hard and fast rules and all you need to do to participate is watch Monsoon Wedding, cook something inspired by it, then post about it on June 20th. See all the event details here

I hope you have fun watching the movie and even more fun in the kitchen afterward!
