We’re on The Dairy Show

The Dairy Show

A couple of months ago, I attended a food bloggers panel here in NYC and met Michael Crupain from The Dairy Show. It’s an awesome video blog about all things dairy. Despite being lactose intolerant, I love milk and anything made from milk, so we talked for a bit, exchanged cards and checked out each other’s sites when we got home.

When he asked if I’d like to be a guest on his show, I was not only flattered, I was thrilled at the chance to dip my toes into the world of video blogging. We spent half a day filming it here in my apartment and Michael spent many more hours over the past month editing the footage into a fantastic seven and a half minute episode. It was certainly a learning experience for me, and I hope to be doing more video on here in the near future.

Hop on over to The Dairy Show and check us out as we work our way through my Pastel de Tres Leches recipe.

Love the video, Marc :) Condensed milk is a childhood favorite, and when we happen to have a can I can’t resist it on warm rolls! Looking forward to any future forays into video :)

great video, Marc! I grew up in Miami, but haven’t had tres leches in years, essentially since I moved away for college. I’m interested in the masa harina you used for the cake. Do you have any particular brand that you use? I have a white corn flour that looks similar to that called, “Harina Pan,” which is traditionally used to make Venezuelan arepas. I wonder if that’ll work.

Hi Tony, from what I can gather, Harina Pan is not nixtamalized (treated in lime water) like Masa Harina and so is not the same thing. That said, since it’s not being used to make tortillas, I think it should work… Only one way to find out:-)

As for the brand I use, it’s called Maseca and is available in most Latin American grocery stores.
