A few weeks ago, I got an email from someone representing the Thai Department of Foreign Trade, and they asked me if I'd be interested in visiting Chiang Mai to learn about Thai rice. Given the fact I've never been to Chiang Mai before, and how much I love rice, it sounded right up my alley! As I read down the email, I saw the date they wanted me there and I did a double take. It was February 9th, and they wanted me there by dinnertime on February 10th!
Miraculously, my schedule was relatively clear that week, and the next day I found myself dragging a suitcase through snow to get to the airport. The trip ended up being AMAZING, and while I was there, I found my new favorite whole-grain rice. It's called Riceberry and it's a hybrid that's extremely nutritious, and yet it cooks up like regular white rice. I'm gonna be posting more about this along with some recipes, but for now, check out out the video above.
It's a vlog of my first day there, and it's also the first time I've done a video like this. If you guys like it, I'm hoping to make vlogs on a more regular basis, so you can join me on my food adventures outside of the kitchen. Leave a comment and let me know what you think!
Enjoy Part 2 of my travels here: Thailand Vlog Episode #2.

Looks like you had fun! Glad your schedule was open so you could go to Thailand. (Not sure about the “costume” bit they had you do....but you were a good sport to do it.) Thanks for sharing!

I've been a lonnnng time follower of your blog and really enjoy the evolution of it. I have tried numerous recipes of yours and it's a site that I use as a got-to when I'm not sure what I want to cook. I'm now intrigued about this Riceberry rice. Looking forward to your recipes with it. Greetings from Toronto, Canada!
