CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS

My easy Asian Chicken Lettuce Wrap recipe features fragrant basil chicken and tangy pickled red onions wrapped in two types of lettuce, and it comes together in just minutes.

INGREDIENTS

- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil - 9 grams garlic (minced) - 425 grams ground chicken - 2 tablespoons oyster sauce - 2 teaspoons soy sauce - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper - 25 grams basil - 180 grams red onion - 2 teaspoons sugar - 2 tablespoons lime juice - 2 small heads lettuce  - cilantro

Add the sliced red onions, sugar, salt, and lime juice to bowl and toss to coat evenly. Let the onions pickle overnight, or massage them with your hand to get them to pickle in about 10 minutes.

PICKLE RED ONIONS

Add the vegetable oil and minced garlic to a frying pan and stir-fry until it browns.

BROWN GARLIC

Add the ground chicken and use spatulas to chop up the ground chicken into small crumbs.

STIR-FRY CHICKEN

Season the chicken with the oyster sauce, soy sauce, and black pepper. Continue stir-frying until the chicken is fully cooked and there is no liquid left in the pan.

SEASON CHICKEN

Add the basil and toss together until the basil is vibrant green. Transfer the basil chicken to a plate to cool slightly before  wrapping with lettuce.

ADD BASIL

Pick lettuce leaves that are cup-shaped and stuff with generous amount of chicken.

WRAP WITH LETTUCE

Garnish the lettuce wraps with pickled onions and cilantro leaves.
