RECIPE
Japanese Garlic Rice is a teppanyaki restaurant classic. In this recipe, I'm going to show you how to make this flavorful fried rice at home, finished with savory garlic butter and crispy garlic chips.
- 345 grams cooked rice - 9 grams garlic (1 large clove) - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon butter - black pepper (to taste) - 1/4 teaspoon salt - 1 teaspoon soy sauce - flat leaf parsley
Grate the remaining garlic into a bowl with the butter and mash together to make the garlic butter.
Arrange the sliced garlic in a single layer with the oil in a pan over medium low heat and fry, flipping periodically.
When the garlic starts to tan around the edges and isn't sizzling very much anymore, transfer it out of the oil.
Season the garlic rice with salt and pepper, and then drizzle the soy sauce around the rim of the pan. Toss and stir to distribute evenly.
